For most people, the decision comes down to one question: do you need structured documentation tools, or would a lighter Mac capture utility cover your work? **Quick answer:** Choose Snagit on Mac if you make step-by-step guides, edit screenshots heavily, record short narrated videos, or share editable SNAGX files with Windows users. Choose a lighter Mac tool if you mainly take quick screenshots and add a few arrows or labels. Need the installer? You may see the name **Camtasia Snagit** on TechSmith's 2026 pages and inside the app. Don't let that throw you — TechSmith changed the product wording when Snagit joined the Camtasia portfolio.
