**Snagit Individual costs $39 per year in the US.** The Business license is $48 per user per year, the educator rate is $39.36 per user per year, and the verified student offer is $20 per year. These are public US prices checked on August 14, 2026\. Tax, local currency, reseller terms, and the final cart can change what you pay.

**Fast decision:** Buy Individual when you pay for your own non-transferable subscription and can sign in. Buy Business when the organization needs a software key, seat reassignment, offline activation, deployment controls, or phone support. Ask for an Enterprise quote when a site agreement is easier than tracking seats.

Snagit bills yearly, full stop. TechSmith's current support page says there is no monthly Snagit subscription, and the current desktop product is subscription-only for 2025 and later releases — so a new $39 purchase is not a perpetual license.

![Snagit price verification workflow for buyer type, regional cart, tax, and saved receipt](https://storage.ghost.io/c/32/ae/32ae67dc-03a1-4a24-abcb-b731d79fd904/content/images/2026/08/01-verify-price-1.webp)

Choose the correct buyer category, confirm country, currency, tax, and annual billing in the live cart, then save the dated receipt.

## Snagit price in 2026

| Plan | Public US price | Who it is for | Transferable | Checkout path |
| ---------- | ---------------- | -------------------------------- | ------------------ | -------------------------- |
| Individual | $39/year | One person buying for themselves | No | Official individual store |
| Business | $48/user/year | Teams and employer-managed seats | Yes | Official teams store |
| Educator | $39.36/user/year | Eligible accredited institutions | Yes | Education store |
| Student | $20/year | Verified full-time students | No | Student Beans verification |
| Enterprise | Custom quote | Large teams or site-wide access | Agreement-specific | Contact sales |

The dollar figures come from current US-indexed TechSmith store pages, though a live store session can show a regional currency instead. Treat the table as a dated comparison, then verify the [individual store](https://www.techsmith.com/store/snagit/?ref=snagitpro.com), [teams store](https://www.techsmith.com/store/snagit/teams?ref=snagitpro.com), or [education store](https://www.techsmith.com/store/snagit/education?ref=snagitpro.com) right before you pay.

Don't divide the annual price by 12 and assume you can pay monthly. TechSmith's [current billing FAQ](https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/41694413225869-Do-You-Offer-Monthly-Subscriptions?ref=snagitpro.com) says Snagit plans are billed annually. Screencast is the separate product that TechSmith offers on a monthly subscription.

## What the annual price looks like for real buyers

Compare Snagit with other tools on the annual total, not an imaginary monthly payment. One US Individual subscription is $39 before tax. Five Individual subscriptions would come to $195, but that buying pattern usually fits an employer badly because those subscriptions cannot be transferred. Five Business seats total $240 before tax and can move to replacement employees. That $45 difference buys the license rights a team is likely to need.

For 10 users, the public Business list price gives you a $480 annual starting point before tax. TechSmith says volume discounts begin at 10 subscriptions, so the actual cart or quote may come in lower — just don't promise anyone a percentage until it shows up in the order. At 100 seats, the public list-price math would be $4,800, but the store sends buyers above 99 seats to sales. That's the point to weigh a normal seat order against a site or enterprise agreement.

A student who passes verification pays $20 for the year at the checked US offer. An eligible educator pays $39.36 per seat, so 10 educator seats start at $393.60 before tax and any volume adjustment. Eligibility matters more than job title here — a private commercial trainer can't assume the education rate applies.

**Budget rule:** calculate seats × annual price, add tax, then price any required upgrade for premium Assets or unlimited Screencast sharing. Keep those figures separate so a base Snagit quote is not mistaken for the cost of Snagit Pro.

## Individual vs Business vs Enterprise rights

The software features are only half the choice. The license controls who may use the seat, how the app unlocks, whether the seat can move to another employee, and whether an offline computer can activate.

| Right | Individual | Business | Enterprise |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------- | ------------------------- | ------------------------------ |
| Unlock method | TechSmith account sign-in | 25-character software key | Site or custom agreement |
| Transfer to another user | No | Yes | Agreement-specific |
| Offline activation | No | Available | Available |
| Active devices per user | One at a time | One at a time | Flexible by agreement |
| Support | Email and chat | Phone, chat, and email | Dedicated manager plus support |
| Deployment package | No | Available | Available |

![Snagit activation routes for individual sign-in, business software key, and enterprise deployment](https://storage.ghost.io/c/32/ae/32ae67dc-03a1-4a24-abcb-b731d79fd904/content/images/2026/08/02-license-route-1.webp)

Individual subscriptions use account sign-in. Business licenses use a software key and support reassignment and offline activation; enterprise terms are handled through a site agreement.

## Individual: lowest public price, tied to one person

The Individual subscription is for your own use. You unlock Snagit by signing in with the TechSmith account that made the purchase. There's no software key, the subscription can't be reassigned to a colleague, and offline activation isn't available. Email and chat support are included.

This plan fits a freelancer, a consultant, a student who doesn't qualify for the education offer, or an employee buying with their own account and expense method. It's the wrong pick when the company needs to recover the seat after a person leaves. TechSmith's [Individual versus Business guide](https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/32667249507725-What-is-the-difference-between-an-Individual-Subscription-and-a-Business-License-Subscription?ref=snagitpro.com) explicitly describes Individual subscriptions as non-transferable.

Before you pay, make sure Snagit solves the job you actually have. It is built for screen capture, scrolling capture, annotation, short screen recordings, and step documentation. My [guide to what Snagit is used for](https://snagitpro.com/what-is-snagit-used-for/) separates those jobs from full video production. That one check can save a $39 purchase when a free built-in capture tool is enough — or when Camtasia was the product you needed all along.

## Business: a transferable seat with a software key

Business costs $48 per user per year at the checked US list price. The team gets a 25-character software key. A seat can be reassigned, end users don't need personal account sign-in for the desktop app, offline activation is available, and the license includes phone support plus deployment resources.

The extra $9 over Individual buys verified license and administration rights — though it would be misleading to call every dollar a management fee. Pick Business if the organization buys for another person, expects staff changes, needs a shared renewal, packages installers, disables cloud destinations, or runs a disconnected machine. My [Snagit offline activation guide](https://snagitpro.com/snagit-offline-activation/) owns the step-by-step activation process.

## How many devices can one Snagit license use?

TechSmith separates installation count from active use. Its [subscription transition FAQ](https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/27009223314701-TechSmith-Transition-to-Annual-Subscription-Pricing-Model-in-2025?ref=snagitpro.com) says subscription versions can be installed on an unlimited number of machines, but one user can sign in or activate only one device at a time. The current subscription EULA draws the same one-device-at-a-time boundary for an Individual subscription.

That doesn't create a pool for coworkers. A license belongs to its authorized user or assigned business seat. If several people need Snagit, buy a seat for each user or ask TechSmith about a site agreement.

## Education prices and eligibility

The checked US education store lists $39.36 per user per year for educators and $20 per year for verified students. Educator licenses unlock with a software key and can be transferred; the student offer uses account sign-in and is non-transferable.

TechSmith's [education eligibility page](https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025206292-Am-I-Eligible-for-the-Education-Discount?ref=snagitpro.com) limits institutional discounts to full-time students, staff, and faculty at K-12 or higher-education institutions using the software for teaching, learning, or administrative computing — commercial use is excluded. The Student Beans individual offer is available in the US, UK, and Canada for qualified students and recent graduates.

If you're a corporate trainer outside an accredited school, teaching people doesn't make the education discount apply. Use Business or request a quote that matches the organization.

## What base Snagit includes

The $39 Individual and current Business/Education store pages include more than the desktop app. It's easy to misread what's bundled, because TechSmith also sells broader Snagit Create, Snagit Pro, Screencast, and Assets plans.

![Private Screencast sharing, Starter Assets, browser editing, and return request included with base Snagit](https://storage.ghost.io/c/32/ae/32ae67dc-03a1-4a24-abcb-b731d79fd904/content/images/2026/08/03-base-entitlements-1.webp)

The current base plan lists up to 25 private Screencast videos, Starter Assets, Camtasia Online access at 1080p, and a 14-day return window for direct purchases.

- **Up to 25 private Screencast videos:** you can host, share, and collect timestamped comments and reactions. This is a count limit, not unlimited hosting.
- **Starter Assets:** the base subscription includes a starter royalty-free library. It is not the full 100M+ premium Assets for Snagit catalog.
- **Camtasia Online:** the included browser tool supports 1080p recording, simple editing, sharing, and collaboration. It is not the full desktop Camtasia Editor.
- **Current updates and support:** an active subscription receives current versions, updates, chat/email support, and training.
- **14-day money-back guarantee:** this protects a completed purchase. It is separate from the trial period.

## Snagit Create and Snagit Pro

TechSmith's current [Snagit plan comparison](https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/41688272400781-What-Is-the-Difference-Between-Snagit-Pro-Snagit-Create-and-Snagit?ref=snagitpro.com) says Snagit Create adds access to 100M+ premium images, exclusive templates, and AI-generated visuals. Snagit Pro includes Create and adds unlimited Screencast sharing. All three levels include the desktop Snagit application.

Create and Pro are currently sold online for individual users. A team that needs transferable subscriptions should contact TechSmith sales or a preferred reseller for an equivalent bundle. I don't publish a Create or Pro price here because the checked official support article defines the contents but doesn't give a stable regional checkout price.

## Volume discounts and enterprise licensing

TechSmith's [volume and enterprise page](https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/43559428635021-Volume-and-Enterprise-Pricing-Information?ref=snagitpro.com) says volume discounts begin at 10 subscriptions. Some discounts show up in the online store; custom site licenses and multi-year deals require sales contact. The public Business store asks buyers above 99 seats to contact sales.

A site agreement can cover current employees, include up to 10% headcount growth, lock pricing for three years, provide one key and centralized management tools, assign success and account managers, and add onboarding resources. Those are enterprise site-license terms — don't copy them into a normal 10-seat Business order.

Enterprise pricing is a custom quote. Make the seller put the covered products, employee count, growth allowance, countries, support, deployment method, Screencast/Assets entitlements, payment schedule, renewal, and cancellation terms in the order document.

## Renewal cost and total cost of ownership

The first-year cart is only part of the decision. Write down the renewal date and the renewal amount shown at checkout. If a reseller supplies the license, note which company handles renewal and support. For a team, count the time it takes to assign seats, package the installer, manage updates, and recover licenses when staff change. Business costs more per seat than Individual, but reassignment can cut waste when employees leave.

Cloud limits can change the total too. Base Snagit includes up to 25 private Screencast videos and Starter Assets. If your workflow needs unlimited Screencast sharing or the full premium asset catalog, compare the appropriate Pro or Create bundle before you approve the budget. Buying the base plan and hitting the limit after rollout just triggers a second purchasing cycle.

A useful quote comparison has five lines: desktop Snagit seats, any Create or Pro upgrade, tax, reseller or procurement fees, and the renewal total. Keep optional training or implementation services on their own lines. That way two proposals stay comparable even when one seller rolls everything into a single number.

## Subscription, cancellation, and old perpetual licenses

Snagit 2025 and later releases run on an annual subscription. Cancel, and access continues until the paid term ends; once the subscription expires, access to subscription versions ends with it. TechSmith also says normal subscription use requires initial activation and a check at least once every 90 days, with alternative workflows for approved offline organizations.

An older perpetual license is a different story. TechSmith says a previously purchased perpetual version remains yours to use while the operating system stays compatible. That does not create a perpetual right to Snagit 2025, 2026, or later subscription releases. The current support schedule lists Snagit 2024 support through December 31, 2026 without a Legacy subscription and October 2, 2027 with one.

If you already own a legacy key, check the Keys and subscription status in your TechSmith account before buying again. For the product decision behind the price, read my current [Snagit review](https://snagitpro.com/snagit-review/). And if annual billing is the blocker, compare the current [free Snagit alternatives](https://snagitpro.com/free-snagit-alternatives/) rather than buying an old key from an unknown marketplace.

## Trial, refund, and the safest checkout process

The full Snagit trial lasts 15 days according to TechSmith's [current trial and activation instructions](https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021040791-Snagit-Enter-My-Software-Key?ref=snagitpro.com). The store separately advertises a 14-day money-back guarantee after purchase. A trial lets you test the app before paying; a refund policy kicks in after payment and can carry its own terms.

![Snagit buying workflow for trial, regional cart, activation, renewal terms, and service limits](https://storage.ghost.io/c/32/ae/32ae67dc-03a1-4a24-abcb-b731d79fd904/content/images/2026/08/04-buying-workflow-1.webp)

Test the trial, verify the final regional cart, choose the correct activation route, read renewal and cancellation terms, and check sharing and asset limits before paying.

1. Run the 15-day trial on the computer and operating system you will use.
2. Open the final cart and confirm country, currency, tax, renewal price, and billing period.
3. Choose Individual only when the buyer and permanent user are the same person.
4. Choose Business when the employer needs a key, transfer, offline activation, deployment controls, or phone support.
5. Write down whether 25 Screencast videos and Starter Assets are enough. Price Create, Pro, or a custom team bundle if they are not.
6. Save the order confirmation, license type, plan details, cancellation instructions, and renewal date.

## FAQ: Snagit pricing and licenses

### How much does Snagit cost per year?

Snagit Individual costs $39 per year and Business costs $48 per user per year in the US, based on public TechSmith prices checked August 14, 2026\. Tax, local currency, reseller terms, and the final cart can change the amount.

### Can I buy Snagit without a subscription?

New Snagit 2025 and later releases are subscription-only. Older perpetual versions remain usable for owners while their operating system stays compatible, but an old license does not grant perpetual access to current subscription releases.

### Can I pay for Snagit monthly?

No. TechSmith's current billing FAQ says Snagit subscriptions are billed annually. Screencast is the TechSmith product with a separate monthly subscription option.

### How many computers can use one Snagit subscription?

A subscription version can be installed on an unlimited number of machines, but one licensed user can sign in or activate only one device at a time. Each additional user needs a seat.

### What is the difference between Snagit Individual and Business?

Individual uses account sign-in, is non-transferable, and has no offline activation. Business uses a software key, allows seat reassignment and offline activation, and adds phone support plus deployment resources.

### Does Snagit include Screencast and Assets?

Base Snagit includes private hosting for up to 25 Screencast videos and a Starter Assets library. Snagit Create adds the 100M+ premium asset library. Snagit Pro includes Create and adds unlimited Screencast sharing.

### Is there a Snagit student discount?

Yes. The checked US student offer is $20 per year for verified full-time students. Verification uses Student Beans, and TechSmith lists availability in the US, UK, and Canada.

### What happens if I cancel Snagit?

You can use the subscription until the paid term ends. After expiration, access to subscription versions ends. Previously purchased perpetual versions remain separate and continue to work while the device operating system supports them.
