If you buy through a qualifying affiliate link on SnagitPro, the publication may earn a commission. That is a commercial connection you should consider when reading a recommendation. This page explains the general policy; it does not replace a clear disclosure beside a commercial recommendation.
How affiliate links work
An affiliate link can identify a referral to a seller or affiliate program. A qualifying purchase may result in payment to SnagitPro under that program's terms. Clicking a link does not mean every visit or purchase earns a commission.
Not every outbound link is an affiliate link. A reference to documentation, a forum, or a vendor page does not by itself establish a paid relationship. The disclosure should identify the actual commercial connection, rather than making you infer it from a button or a URL.
Check the offer before buying
An affiliate link is not a promise of the lowest price or an identical offer through every purchase route. Check the seller's checkout, currency, plan, taxes or fees shown, renewal terms, and any discount conditions before paying. Compare the same product and license when checking another seller.
This page does not set the vendor's price, guarantee a discount, or establish a commission amount. SnagitPro is an independent publication, not TechSmith's official store or support service.
Recommendations and commercial relationships
The editorial policy requires recommendations to follow product evidence and the reader's needs. A commission, review copy, discount, or sponsorship must not buy a higher ranking, a favorable verdict, or control over editorial conclusions. A free tool can be the right recommendation.

Where a disclosure belongs
The FTC's guidance for affiliate marketers calls for a clear explanation of the payment relationship close to the recommendation or link. Readers may not understand the words “affiliate link” alone, and a Buy Now button does not explain a commission.
Our standard requires relevant commercial disclosures where you can see them while considering the recommendation. A link to this general page in the footer is not a substitute for explaining the connection on the relevant article.
A paid sponsorship or a free or discounted review copy can involve a different connection from an affiliate commission. The FTC's material-connection guidance explains why those benefits can matter even when no cash changes hands. Any relevant arrangement should be described accurately, not hidden behind a generic label.

If a recommendation's commercial status is unclear, contact SnagitPro with the page URL and the link or placement you are asking about. Do not send passwords, payment-card information, or private account credentials.
